His private Antonov was on another stateside tonewood gathering run Allen, so I'm guessing it was shipped back with the latest booty.Allen wrote:How did you get it shipped Martin? That's pretty fast for USPS?

It came with FedEx. It was the only fast option they offered me when I ordered.Allen wrote:How did you get it shipped Martin? That's pretty fast for USPS?

That's bizarre Allen. I ordered the same day as you (and probably at a later time) and mine shipped 5 days ago.

Timing is everything. The link has gone down a couple of times now. I bet they had no idea how popular that vice would be. Allen and Alan must have placed their order after the on hand stock was wiped out by Martin and company. A five day resupply isn't too bad all in all.

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
And it's there again... now for 106.99 "instead of" 122.- ... not sooooo attractive anymore.
Guess they scratched their heads...
- shurely the only wanted to sell the last remaining one, and now their poor webmaster has to pay the bill?

If I could get them to ship it with a case or two of Hatch green chile, it just might be worth the money.

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
Hey Marcus,
I orderred mine friday afternoon. Had 2 of them in the shopping cart ,& had a bit of a look around to see if anything else took my fancy,& early evening I went to the checkout bin & the price went up to 106.99 , like you said. Of course the insurance & handing went up ,as did the postage ( from $68 to $95 ), so for the order the price went from $233 to $338 , so that that hurt a bit.
I went & ordered them anyway , as they still seemed pretty good value.
I did email them , hoping it might be a computer error , but no - the sale ended between the time I had them in my cart to when I checked out- bummer. They offered to split the difference in the actual cost of the vices, which was $90.99 , & the total ended up being around $ 320 delivered, so I thought that was pretty good of them .It would have been nice to see an expiry date for their sale on the website though

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
I'm hoping they come expedited as standard for the $66.95 I paid Allen, the shipping advice I got sure looks that way.

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
so whats expedited then?
ok so I just looked it up in the dictionary and it means faster.
what its application to international shipping though? Do you pay more for it? how much faster are we talking?

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
3 to 5 days and yes it cost more than priority mail. Have a look at the product description for EMI Liam..

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
Mine says the exact same thing but I only paid the base shipping charge. As I said just a bit under the $142 all up.
Re: Pattern Makers Vise
So did I app 66 bucks for freight and 75 for the vice = 141.94 total

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
I only paid the basic amount around $142 all up.
I guess if that's the case you blokes will see your vices on Monday or Tuesday.
No wonder they upped the prices. They must be thinking WTF is happening in Aus and why are we getting all these orders.
Do you think we should contact them and tell them Allen started all of this?
The basic USPS price for shipping that vice from Stewmac is $230 and I always thought USPS was the cheapest way of getting anything from the States into Aus/NZ

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
If these are coming expedited then there will be some right royal arse kicking going on when the pigeons come home to roost...Woodworkers list the vice @ 31.5lb a piece. To send 32lb expedited to AU, which according to the USPS table is a group 10 destination, it cost $219.50 just for freight.

I also did a calculation at UPS and for expedited 3 to 5 days it is around double at $400>
Someone made a bit of a booboo me thinks. Wonder if this is the reason behind the price hike on the vice itself and the shipping...to recoup the aussie plunder?
Cheers

I think we all owe Allen lots of beers next time we catch up with him

Re: Pattern Makers Vise
Thats what I paid for vice plus Fedex. The freight was applied by woodworker.com after lengthy discussions with me on all the options. USPS was out of the question after they quoted circa $200 for that option.Kim wrote:So did I app 66 bucks for freight and 75 for the vice = 141.94 total
