vinyl decals
I have used a vinyl decal for my headstock logo for the past 10 guitars which I sourced from O/S. It's simple as you can see, but under lacquer, I like it and want to keep using it.
Does anyone know of an oz supplier that could do this?
I am not really interested in water slide decals - I have tried them but could always see the feint outline of the backing transparency.
Otherwise it's back to O/S supplier!!

I need a new supply and have been trying local suppliers but the couple I have tried have a go but can't do it. The black line edge around the letters and fine nature of the characters are the issue.Does anyone know of an oz supplier that could do this?

Re: vinyl decals
I can't help you with a supplier Frank but I would be interested when you find one cause I have a Tele I would like to build and want to use fender style decals on the headstock. Have you tried businesses that make cnc cut vinyl signs for window and vehicles, should be plenty of them around and maybe they can do what you want. I am more interested in the water slide type that have that outline if you know of anyone that does them.

Edit...Oops I see you have tried the guys I mentioned.

Yeah please keep us posted on what you find -- I've been wanting decals for my electric guitars for some time.
What's the international supplier you've been using thus far?

The quality of their decals (once I got them) is excellent but my experience of their service was absolutely dreadful - multiple issues.

Thanks Frank, your link doesn't seem to work but I googled them anyway. Unfortunately they do not do water slide, do you know of anyone that does?

Sorry for link inaccuracy .... should be www.best-decals.com
As far as water slide, I actually produced my own on an inkjet printer, it's not difficult. But you need to seal it with something suitable before spraying it with nitro, as the nitro will ruin it. You can buy transparency & sealer kits from some hobby shops.
If you google "Water slide decals", I think you will get plenty of australian hits.

Just having a look around web for alternative suppliers...here is one you might be interested in for electrics, though they seem pretty expensive...

These guys look good to deal with. Here is an extract of their response to my email inquiry. Don't know about product quality yet, but price and service looks good to me. Bear in mind that I have already sent then completed art work and required fonts. Frankvandenboom wrote:...this one looks better....

====================================================
Vinyl Decals would cost $10.00 for 10-25 and 9.50 for 26-40.
Waterslide decals, the cost would be $ 9.00 for 10-25 and $8.75 for 26-30.
Pricing for a single decal would be $ 19.50 each. My suggesting is take one of each first and if you order the remaining decals I will adjust the pricing on the remaining decals.
Before any final production is started I will email you a PDF file of the decal. Print it out and make sure it fits correctly.
Shipping is Free.

Re: vinyl decals
Just wanted to let you know the conclusion to this given that it was my first dealing with sentinelcustomgraphics.
Since the last post, I have received two vinyl decals to try out. The process leading up to that to confirm size and finalise colour was excellent - good communication and understanding of what I was looking for. I sample water slide was also included. Quality of decals and trial application was all good, in fact the vinyl was a little thinner (approx 0.1mm) than product from previous supplier (closer to 0.17mm), so that's a bonus.
I have since ordered another 18, which will keep me going for a few years!! I have stuck with vinyl over water slide as I find exact positioning easer to manage.
So overall, my experience with sentinelcustomgraphics via Art Keel has been excellent.
