duh Padma School of Luthierism & Martial Arts.

.
Greeting, salutations and blessings to you all...

Wood~en't ya know it , me daughter met this dude visiting from South Island and rund off with him to live in Oz. Ok me figure, me should reach out to the down under brotheren in de craft. As such, dis here be me first post at ANZLF. Daz right, me a newbe.

So by way of introduction me offer you the following babble.

( Jan 30 2009, 10:08 AM http://www.luthierforum.com)

Actually, truth be told, (duh Padma will be mortified that I tell you this but...)

Duh Padma is a luthier martial arts master who has been reincarnating as a luthier since the 4th century. He could probably tell you 40 more ways to install frets.

Hint: one of his secret ways is to sharpen the fret tang, hang the fretboard on the wall, and throw the frets in, like a throwing star. His intonation and scale are perfect.

Don't tell him I told you this.

Tom T. (thomsoncat)

Dear brotheren, apprentice, fellow craft, journeymen and master luthiers all....
now that Tom T. has let me secret out...
me may as well put an end to the endless babbling and gossip that this will cause
and simply confess.

Yes. Is True.

I am the 23 incarnation of the master luthier known as duh Padma and founder of the duh Padma School of Luthierism & Martial Arts.

As the monks got tired of wood be aspiring luthiers beating a path to our monastery door in the Himalayas, it was decided I best immigrated to Canada, settle into seclusion in the Super Natural mountains of British Columbia and secretly practice our ancient craft.

For those of you who find this hard to believe, here are pictures of me at the
monastery in the Himalayas and in my dojo in B.C.

Now that the word is finally out and with the advent of the World Wide Web, me, duh Padma, undertakes a new vow to employ this vehicle in disseminating "the Word of Luthierisem" according to duh Padma and as such will now start posting here on ANZLF on a somewhat of a regular basses.

In another day or so, duh Padma will be a postin pics of me dojo and past builds and builds of current nightmares and of course the usual running babble of Padmaizums.

Blessings
duh Padma

PS. Oh and Tom, thank you for relieving me of the burden of secrecy.

PSS. Yes dudes, me for real.

Testimonials
( OLF Tue Feb 10, 2009 ) Gents the Padma is a much revered Luthier who has been known to post on a couple of other forums.

Rest assured he is a good guy and there is no self promotion here - this is how he really is...... :D

Fear not - he is a great guy and Waddy will vouch for him....... :D

Yes, if you can handle a mischievously misplaced pronoun here and there, and have the sort of spirit that dares "walk on the wild side" (non-traditional lutherie), at least upon occasion, you might just get a kick out of and learn a thing or three from this old coot, er, I mean brilliant artist. Padma is one of those critters with a glowing corpus callosum that can walk into a forest with a pocketknife, or into a junkyard with a hammer, and when all is said and done you'll marvel at the instruments he has created. If the banter gets too obtuse, an aluminum foil helmet will protect you.

Here's one of our more laid back members, Martin (aka Kiwigeo) with his stash of tonewood.

Looks like the photographer wasn't keen on hotlinking Nick; he's serving up his banner instead of the pic you intended.

The direct link works fine to the image URL, so he's probably checking referrers. If you can see it you are either coming from a different referrer or you are looking at a version which was cached before he implemented the rewrites (or that your browser saved when you originally visited the URL). My money is on the cached copy since I don't see how you could be sending a different referrer for this forum. If you clear your cache and visit this forum page again I'd bet you'll see what the rest of us is seeing.

Well Padma, I don't know about you but my plan is to hang out here and enjoy the company, learn lots and share when I can. The shop is off limits until I get over the vertigo.

No need for worry Padma as I am of the convict persuasion and to satisfy my dining habits I usually stick to various undisclosed parts of beast wrapped in pasty and swam through a trough of ketchup.

Hello Padma, welcome to the ANZLF.

Sorry I did not get to this thread to welcome you earlier, but have been a bit tided up at one of the more AR forums you mention clearing some bull shit from the air so to speak. Anyhow, nice to see you here and I hope you enjoy the forum for what it is, not quite so delicate as some, but everyone seems to get along far better for it. Perhaps that is the result when people are a little more up front with each other and not quite so wound up about what is 'proper'.

Cheers he who types in 'Cookie Monster', looking forward to your input.

Kim
