Some slow progress pics

Yeah, it's been a while huh? :D

Thought i'd share the few pics i have on the little i have made after making some room in my shop, had to throw away a ton of stuff to be able to just walk around that shop! :lol:

Here it is

I built myself a jig ala Kathy Matsu to be able to cut the 15 degree angle for a scarf joint, Kathy has made a nice plan that is available on her website

This guitar, an O-18 is getting there slowly but as i advance on the neck, i'm encouraged with how it will look like, oh and the fret slots were made last weekend

It might just be the pics but that looks like a monster of a soundhole for an 0-18.

What's the diameter?

I was close to booking myself a flight up to visit you. The plan was to camp on your front lawn and refuse to leave untill you started making some sawdust.

Looking good there Serge. Good to see you have time to play in the sawdust again. I hear you about the shop cleaning. Now that winter is here, there is absolutely no room out there. There wasn't much to begin with, but now I'm starting to look at things with an eye towards the dump.

But you don't get off that easily. Tell us more about the guitar.

Thanks Bob, you're right, the soundhole is a bit big, i don't remember exactly but somewhere close to to 4" diameter, i think i was used to build bigger boxes and the habit followed me on this one! :lol: Sounds good for a speaker though! :D

Thanks sister Lillian, the dumpster will set you free guitarbuidingwise and it is therapeutic too, believe me! :rolf

That guitar is an 0-18 with EIR back and sides a lutz top, snakewood bindings and coralsnake purflings , it will have an EIR bridge and fingerboard, snakewood headplate at the front and maybe an EIR plate at the back, the neck is a laminated mahog/black fiber?/maple/black fiber/mahog. The rosette is made of coralsnake purf inner/outer rings and wit EIR pieces at regular intervals, pretty simplistic but i might add something to it if i see that once the neck is attached, i'm still bored with the look.

I didn't know that you were/are working on an O sized guitar - very cool.

What I wanted to ask you is this: How does it feel to be back in the shop making saw dust? I get in ruts and even though I can force myself to spend a few minutes every day, or nearly so, that is not long enough to remind me how much I love this - guitar building. It looks like you have made a lot of progress lately so how does it feel bro?

Thanks bro, it feels great, i just needed time away i guess, it's always time well spent as usual, the shop is always a place where i can truly be at peace and where i develop patience which believe me, i do not have much of, guitar building teaches me that! :lol: :wink:

Hi Lillian, here's the best pic that i can come up with, it looks a bit like rope purf but is a bit more fancy, i really enjoy the look around the box.

Looking good! The combination of the EIR/coral snake purfling/ and snakewood bindings sure give that guitar a classy look. And yes the rosette and snakewood peghead face ties it all together. I like it!

Thanks brother Tom, i guess the overall look of my second build has followed me up to now as if that theme has set itself in my mind.

I love that coralsnake a lot and will use some more in the future for sure, kind a gives a guitar a sort of " Je ne sais quoi? "!! :D

If I may answer Lillian, I got that purfling from brother Shane at High Mountain tonewood... It's awesome looking stuff and I think it looks killer in your rosette... I will probably be using mine in a flamenco type guitar, somewhere down the road... LOL
