Had a Lovely Dinner

Post by Lillian » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:43 pm

Fran and I spent a wonderful evening with an up and coming author for Sydney, Gary Corby. His debut novel, The Pericles Commission, is a mystery set in ancient Greece.

He was great company, even though he must have been exhausted. He has a 7:30 flight to San Diego CA and then off to Ann Arbor MI and finishing up in Chicago. Before we parted company he made us promise to find our way Down Under and we will.

I have not had an opportunity to read his novel yet, Fran is hogging it at the moment. Hopefully I will get to start it this weekend. And if he is as good as she thinks he is, he is about to join the ranks of Stephen Saylor.

 Hey, I had to ask the wife that question too.

I still haven't seen Gary's book, but from the who his agent is and the way he's been treated, the guy is fantastic. This is his first book and he's getting well established and loved author treatment. Pretty much unheard of for a newbie.

Got a lovely dinner planned tomorrow night with Mr Nick Oliver. Looking forward to finally meeting the face behind the guitars. Indian food...kiwi beer...and guitar talk. Cant think of a better way to spend an evening.
