Purfling

Post by Hesh1956 » Fri Aug 28, 2009 10:26 pm

Not being a fan of the bright white lines that we see in commercially available purfling I have been wanting to have some purfling made for me for some time.

So... I contacted Gurian and asked them to make some custom purfs for me. The entire experience in dealing with Gurian was a pleasure and the results are excellent too.

This is a bundle of B/hog/B 10/40/10 and B/Koa/B 10/15/10 that Gurian made for me. The quality is excellent and the pricing and quoted delivery was exactly as quoted so it all worked out very well.

Take a peek:

Thanks for looking. :)

Hi Hesh, That's just the kind of purfling I like too. I was thinking about ordering some from Gurian but I think I read somewhere that there is a minimum order of 300 bucks. Is that correct ? I'm with you -Don't like bright white lines around the guitar, especially if it's also Wide. Have you seen Colins ebony/pear/ebony purfs? I like his very much too.

You guys talk like white is not a natural color. Ever used Holly, Sycamore Dogwood, or Willow? Take a look at Romanillos' guitars. Plenty of thin, white, lines, all natural wood. Mostly planed off planks by him.

The slight yellowish tint comes from the finish.

Very pretty Waddy bro and I like what you see in that picture especially with the tint.

I don't know, white, bright white fiber purfling always kind of looked like Joe Namath's shoes to me... :D

Dave my friend I think that Gurian has a $200 minimum order but fear not, when you get in touch with them they are very happy to help you meet and exceed the $200 level... :D

We might want to get some of the members together if we can decide on a few things that we all want and do a group buy?

I've done a group buy with Gurian for the Moderators, and as Hesh said, they are very good to deal with. It's also really easy to get to the $200 mark when you start to pick up a few things that they carry.

One thing to think about if some of you are interested in getting together and doing a group buy is that things can very quickly get out of hand if you allow the number of product choices to be more than just a few. Just ask me how I know.
