Nice work Grant.

The K&K's are very natural sounding.

Very nice indeed Grant. Congratulations on a fine sounding instrument and some class playing.

Cheers

cheers ,...thanks guys..

I'm just indulging myself really. I just bought a new Mac...and what you can do with these things straight out of the box is highly entertaining..

Bob, yes I'm loving the K&K gear... I've been gigging with it weekly and the sound surprises me a lot ,..especially when I can send an XLR DI to the desk and have the 1/4" output going to an AER amp onstage both sources straight from the preamp ..the sound can be quite big and fairly natural..i wish their preamp had a notch control on it for those unwanted frequencies that want to take off..but its no biggie really.

Hey Grant, very nice build and super nice sound and playing! Very impressive.

Now the question, :D , did you film this with the built in camera on your mac? I've got a mac and it seems you should be able to film stuff like that for youtube while recording the sound on garageband, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.

Mmmmm Love the sound  My builds are currently focused more toward "traditionally" jazz styled guitars but you've just proven that with the right combination, jazz can sound good played through a quality acoustic. I'm with you on the sound, the K&K's are indeed a more pure acoustic sounding pickup than the undersaddle jobbies.

Joe..I used my digital camera to shoot the video...although isight on the mac
would work just as well I'd imagine..
I recorded to garageband at the same time as filming , when you've got the footage on the computer there is a media browser in garageband where you can just drag and drop the film onto the open project and it just creates a track for the film and a track for the films audio...then I just deleted the audio that was on the camera.....then slide the audio track you recorded in garageband along until it syncs with the footage as close as you can...then I just saved the whole project as a itunes master track movie...then upload to youtube...
hopefully thats as clear as mud...I think a lot of people use imovie also, somehow ..but I haven't scratched the surface on how you can do things with a mac as yet...it seems there's many ways to skin the cat as such.

Nick,....The main reason I went with a cedar face was to hopefully get a warmer rounder sound. I've tried lots of different strings trying to get what I want in the sound .. and something about these nickel round wound and heavy guage that are getting closer to what I'm after...without actually sounding dull ...just a bit warmer and rounder than phospher bronze on this guitar anyway. I tried some Thomastik plectrums 12-59 which felt great and on the right guitar they would be very jazz hollowbody sounding but just to dull on my cedar face...maybe on a bright spruce face they would be ideal.

Thanks for the help Grant, I'll give that a try. I've used those Tony Rice strings also and liked them, a little different than the usual.
