Violins have been added to the list of banned instruments

Post by kiwigeo » Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:00 pm

Just off the Press from New Zealand:

Relations hit a sour note between two Westport youths yesterday, culminating in one hitting the other over the head with a violin and the armed offenders squad being called out.

Senior Sergeant Geoff Scott, of Westport police, said the pair had been drinking at a Romilly St house during the afternoon, when the 17-year-old showed his 18-year-old friend a pistol, which he tucked into his waistband.

The pair later argued, with the younger man threatening to kill the other man, who hit him over the head three times with his violin.

He then fled to a neighbour's house and called police.

Due to the seriousness of the threat, the local armed offenders squad was called in, along with squad members from Nelson and Blenheim.

The younger man left the house and police spent some hours trying to locate him.

The incident finally ended at 1.15am today, when a relative tracked down the teenager and talked him into handing himself in to police.

Mr Scott said the matter was still being investigating and no charges had been laid.

A violin crime of passion! "Is that a gun in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?"

It takes two to tango. Can we assume that with three blows to the head, that this was a waltz?

Oh dear  I wish you'd stop 'fiddling' with the thread Dennis and 'bow' out with those corny lines.

Doesn't surprise me, they are coasters after all! But what did surprise me was that they didn't settle the argument by seeing who could roll the fatest joint! Actually coming to blows and not puffs! not the coast way at all.

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

Back to the banjo theme again there! Actually my ex-outlaws retired over there but just north of Westport in Hector, the father outlaw said a visit to town on Thursdays (Dole/benefit day) was always worth the effort. Hours of entertainment as all the native people 'emerged' from the bush (and their herbal crops) in various degrees of mental states and conditions to collect enough money to buy some food just incase they got a case of the munchies!.

Yeah Westport and the Karamea is dope heaven. If you own a helicopter then its not a good idea to have markings on the thing.....one day youll open up your hanger and find your Hughes 500 sitting in pile of ashes.
