The newest Luthier Tips du Jour instructional video is on Youtube. The topic is the bolt on mortise and tenon neck joint. Subtitles are available in both English and Portuguese and you can translate them into any other language by using the CC option on Youtube.

I learnt how to do this from your "Building a steel string guitar" DVD Robbie. This has been refined a bit since then, but it's good to see your sense of humor has remained.

Do you glue down the fret board on your instruments when using a bolt on neck?

Nice one Robbie. Your angle table for the neck is a great and of course simple addition to the jig.Cheers.

G'day Robbie,

Interesting!! My question is what happens if the neck has to be removed? Do you use a few few glue tacks or a full glue down on the fretboard?

I glue the fretboard down but use minimal glue in case it needs to come off one day.

Nice, thanks Robbie I too like the variable angle addition to your neck routing jig. Currently I have fixed angle 'wedges' for the two different neck angles that I use that dowel locate onto my morticing jig, but having adjustability built in looks like a nice & simple touch.

i need one of those jigs, is that on your dvd or can i get the plans somewhere.

The jig is shown on my DVD. I hear there are plans of a similar version of my jig running around somewhere but I don't know where. If you study the video close enough you sould be able to build one on your own.
