Well, I finally got there. I strung up #2 (The Guitar Build from Hell), last night. EIR, German Spruce, Lacewood bindings, Mahogany neck, Romanillos bracing and plantilla, Gilbert Tuning Machines. The reason, for those of you who don't get to other forums much, is: 1 - this is the third neck with a v-joint that I did, as I screwed the first two doing the easy part, of slotting for the sides. Tried to use a table saw, and it didn't work. 2- This is the third rosette. Two major failures to get it in tight. This one still has a couple of little gaps in the white purfling, but hey, it's hand made. 3- Had to rip the back off after gluing, and replace the center back brace. Big dip in the back. It's better now, but still not perfect. There are also other little things, like, when I was cleaning up the neck after installing the fingerboard, I had a chip out right at the V-joint, joint, and it was somewhere in all the curls and chips on the floor where I was working. It took a while, but I found it and glued it back......I don't think it's going to show. Lucky me! Now, I have noticed that there is a crack in the nut that goes through. I thought it was just discoloration, as I am using unbleached bone on this one. Oh well, I have to take it apart to put finish on anyway. I'm glad to get it off my bench, except for finishing. Here are a few pics of it.
