Without a doubt, Martin, check out Dave's Thread. It is an excellent tutorial on lute building. Dave White's Lute Build

If you don't already have it, Robert Lundberg's book on lute building (published by the GAL) would undoubtedly be useful. It was originally published over a couple of years (or more) in American Lutherie and stands out as incredibly well researched and knowledgeable.

First lute build stopped in it's tracks before it starts, unless you "borrow" it while the boss's is away then put it back on before she gets backkiwigeo wrote:Okay so first thing I have to do is work out how to swipe the seat off the dunny without the boss noticing. Mmmmmm...this lute build is going to be a bit more tricky than I thought.

Weekend spent cutting out parts for the body mold.....didnt go very well and Ive trashed same. Van Andrews instructs to transfer direct from ploan to tracing paper and then to the MDF....I found too much dimensional error creeping in during the process ending up in matching mould ribs not being same dimensions. Version 2 will be made up using cardboard patterns. Ill use the same pattern inverted for each set of mold ribs. This is going to be a looooong and at times frustrating project...just like Dave White said.
