That's just filthy Stu, you banned for being a smart ass mate.

What is wrong with you guys lately??? Tim turns up with a cracker uke in his first week, Dom hits us with his uniquely sexy six string, Nick turns out to be a right tosser by posting his stunning maccafairy and now you go and do 'this' to us Stu. Geez, I thought I had done the righty by you blokes but this is just an out right kick in the gutz.

Baaaahhhhh! Bugger the lot of ya, I'm going back to french knitting and internet porn, at least I could hold me own in that field.

Geez, that's beautiful. PRS ain't got nothin on you.
I like everything about it (well, except that it isn't mine) down to the little touches, like the cavity cover made of the same wood. Really slick.
Well done, mate.

Geez Stu! That is one drop top gawwwwwwwgeous guitar, there's more waves in that top than a hawaian surfing beach! & you certainly haven't wasted this great piece of wood. My hat goes off to you sir for your execution of such a beaut axe. :cl :cl :cl :cl

Cowabunga dudes, surfs up!!

Would you mind elaborating on the truss rod cover? it looks rather 'natty'.

 8) 8) 8)

That deserves to be on the cover of a magazine Stu. Simply the best looking electric that I've ever seen. The new owner must surely be over the moon with how that turned out.

How are you going to top that one. Something new on the workbench yet?

Stunning as usual Stu. Your attention to detail is inspiring.
Are they mini buckers in middle and neck position and what do they sound like?
Cheers

That is some serious eye candy. So many nice touches, I really like the binding and the top. With that thru neck it looks like it would sustain a note until the next day.... Beautiful design.

Gee, I never thought I'd say this but 'it's a real honour to be banned from the forum'

Thanks for looking it over fellas.

Nick, the truss-rod cover is something I do on quite a few of my builds
with a corresponding piece to slot into the truss slot.
I also incorporate a very small magnet onto it so it sticks in place by locating onto the end of the truss rod adjustment end.

I'm glad you picked up on the black/white binding detail there, John.
That purfling was bent to shape on a hot-pipe and then routed into the top cap prior to glueing the body and topcap together.
A little extra work but produces a nice detail. The actual top is a faux binding .

Stu, this guitar is stunning! I've shown it to the whole family and we are in agreement. We love it. Well actually I'm guessing with Ryan. He left a big puddle of drool on his keyboard and made sounds that I took for positive when I asked him if he liked it.

How did you do the burst? This is probably the most natural looking burst I have seen since I started cruising forums. I really love it.

Thanks Lillian and family. I take no responsibility for drool stains on carpet or any electrical goods. Just remember incessant drooling leads to dehydration.

I tend to do bursts by mixing colour into a 50:50 mix of nitro and solvent.
No real secret to it either apart from using LMII powdered aniline dyes.

I stain the tops with the old rag method with a few little tweaks to bring out the figure a little more. Sebastiaan, I could do a pictorial on it next one comes around.

In a nutshell I did a washcoat of weak blue and a wipe off.
second colour was full strength red and then a wipe off excess.
Third colour was a burgundy mix and wipe off excess. Then the burst
which was a dark purple/black combo.

Domenic. Sorry I forgot to answer your question too.
The singles are the SD '59 Mini buckers and sound very close to the
big sized jobies. good on the coil splits also.

Cheers, Stu
