Thanks Allen - my money is in. No rush for my order - I have a couple of rods now, & not enough time to use them before August.
Regards,
Steve

Hank, at least you didn't release the 'chocolate hostages'.

The funds went in yesterday, Allen. No hurry on my stuff either.

Thanks everyone. The funds are coming through to the bank account. I've let Todd know our plans, and have asked him to get things moving. I'll most likely be transferring the dosh next week.

All payments have cleared the system except Martin's. I'll let Allied know that we are ready to order.

I did get in on a group buy of CF rods from Los Alamos Composites, and Jim was kind enough to allow me to get the same price (and of course I paid the shipping.)

I don't think I did get in on a previous truss rod buy, but then again, once upon a time I smoked a lot of herbs that made my memory go kablooey.

I'll bet Todd would be willing to allow you in, at the group buy prices, Rod. He's a good egg.

Todd has said that Rod can get into the buy, but as he needs the standard length rods, it's going to be a while before enough are available. He only had 30 in stock, and I think would like to keep most of them for the general public that aren't just putting them in stock. I'll keep everyone informed when they arrive.

Allied has shipped the truss rods today. There are going to be 20 of the standard length ones included in the order, so if anyone is desperate for some, put your hand up. I know that Bob needs some.

The truss rods have all been paid for, and the order is now in the hands of Australian Customs. Problem is that the declared value tipped the $1,000 mark, so I've been on the phone dealing with customs for an hour this afternoon, and then filling out bloody paper work for another hour.

To the best of my understanding, the truss rods should end up being duty free, as they are guitar parts and part of the US/AU free trade deal. Looks likely that we'll be up for the GST on both the value of items and postage though. Paper work gets faxed tomorrow, then 5 to 8 days for them to process, and then a few more days to get the payment done. Then Australia Post is allowed to deliver.

I'm sorry about the added delay, and expense. These group buys are getting too large for our own good. Next time we'll have to break the order into regions so this doesn't get us again.

I'll keep you posted on the developments.

Bldi Rudd must have heard about the group buy and tipped off customs. Anything to get in a few more dollars to bolster up the huge budget deficit.

You used UPS right?? A guarantee of getting ripped off big time. US postal service or DHL are what I use and Ive never had a problem.

i have used UPS, USPS, and 'other than UPS or USPS'

UPS is considerably more expensive than USPS ; you are right in this respect

but 'other' is something else ...at least what i have expreienced recently

shipping is often not a choice from some sellers in the USA

where there is a choice i do choose USPS

sometimes i have no choice and UPS is the only way

but what really gets me are the 'customs' and 'quarantine' routine on non-UsPS/UPS shipping

i have documented all this in the other forum so i will not reprise me ranting

Ok, to keep you all up to speed. Customs has been paid. and the rods arrived yesterday. As I was told. the order is complete except for the remainder of the standard length 14 1/2 rods.

Today, going in the post are the following.

Martin Turner's - complete, along with his fret boards.
Jim Schofield's - complete
Mark McLean's - complete
Micheal Lai's - complete
Frank Jaksetic - complete
Micheal Conner - short 8 of the 14 fret rods.
Jeff Highland - complete

I'm awaiting another fret board shipment, that as yet says it's been sitting in Buffalo NY since May 11. It really should be here by now, but sometimes the USPS tracking system is a bit slow. I was planning on shipping more orders with fret boards to keep costs down. If you simply can't wait, please let me know.

I jumped in and Todd was great to allow me in on the group buy. My box arrived. There was a hole in the end. The box contained corn starch packing peanuts, and an envelope with the allen wrenches. The hole in the end of the box must have been the escape hatch for the rods.

Now, we get to find out how UPS will handle the problem. I wonder how hard you have to throw or drop a box to make the rods become projectiles - and why the culprit didn't shove them back in when he must have seen them come flying out of the box.

UPS = oops.
