Truss Rod Group Buy- Expressions of Interest
Truss Rod Group Buy- Expressions of Interest
As it's been a bit over a year since our last truss rod order, and many of us have used up the stock we laid in, is there any interest in another group buy on Allied's truss rods? We managed to get wholesale pricing on the last order owing to the numbers that we required. A considerable savings if you are considering in getting some for a rainy day.
Let me know approximate numbers and size, then we'll go from there.
If you are new here, and aren't aware, Allied Luthier makes the bees knees of truss rods. You can see their offerings here

Darn, darn, darn... I just ordered 12 Allied rods last week......
Anyway I agree - it's the best rod on the market today for a number of reasons:
1) Smooth, precise adjustments using a unique multi-threaded design
2) Stainless steel construction, should last long enough to have beings looking at it 2,000 years from now wondering if it was a urological surgical tool of devious nature....
3) NO PROUD WELD GLOBS that need to be filed down to fit a 1/4" slot like the LMI rod....
4) Weight of LMI rod = 119 grams, weight of Allied rod = 119 grams
5) Designed by Mark Blanchard and Mark is a very bright guy

Fat chance......20 truss rods still sitting on the shelf at home.Allen wrote:As it's been a bit over a year since our last truss rod order, and many of us have used up the stock we laid in,
Yes Bob, Michael was chatting with me about truss rods, and as I've had the experience and contact with Allied, I volunteered to take this one on again.
We'll let this go through the long weekend, and then see what kind of numbers we are talking about.
The last time we did this we had an order for 102 rods, with an average cost per rod of $12.97 AU plus postage from Cairns.

In case you are new and aren't aware of how most group buys operate on the forum, here is a little info.
Group buys have been a way for us to pool our buying power into getting a better price on products that most of us use, or at least I use. I've been doing a lot of the leg work, so it's going to be for something that I want in stock.
We get a list of product, and then submit the numbers to the vendor of choice. We get a price back, and I let you know the price with a last chance for everyone to confirm their order. If I can cover the amount then I transfer the funds, and then let everyone know what their total is. Transfers to my bank account are the preferred method of payment. Sometimes the order ends up being so large that I can't and more importantly my wife won't let me cover it. So I await everyone to transfer funds before the order is placed.
Once the order arrives, I re-pack and mail out. When I know the postage from Cairns to you, and any other miscellaneous charges, I'll let you know and you square up with me, or whomever is co-ordinating the purchase.

UPDATE
I contacted Todd at Allied Luthier, and told him the numbers we are looking at ordering.
He tells me that he's got heaps of everything in stock, except the standard length one. Is having some improvements made to them, and just ordered today, so once he knows more, he'll get back to me about pricing difference if any, and when they will be available.
For now he can offer the same pricing we got last time around at $10 US for all rods except the bass ones which will be $11 US. Shipping is on top of this of course.

I've got everyones order that has spedified what they want laid out on a spread sheet, and I think that it's pretty well right.
We are at 152 truss rods at the present time. This is going to be approximately $2,200 AU, so I'm going to need everyone to transfer funds to me for their order before I pay for it.
Not just yet, as I'll get confirmation from Allied about availability of stock and final pricing on the standard 14" rods, plus his estimate on shipping. I'll inform you when the time comes. I don't want to be sitting on everyones deposit, then have the order wait for some time if the stock isn't going to be available for some time.
