slight miscalculation

Post by jmuller92 » Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:17 pm

hey everyone, im a fair way into making my guitar neck, and have just realised i calculated for the nut to be located on the flat part of the neck, just before the angle starts. Is this a problem? will it work the same notched into the flat part?

cheers

That is the way most people do it (other than CF Martin) You don't have to notch it in, just leave 5mm or so between the end of the fretboard and the head overlay. It looks a little neater to bevel the end of the head overlay so it is vertical and the nut sits in cleanly

Yup, what Graham says. All my nuts are on the flat part.
