Preachin' to the choir Sebastiaan. But if we didn't build at those temperatures up here, we'd never get anything done.

Phoned the boss back in Adelaide and she said she was lying on the bed feeling dizzy.

Curtains are drawn in the shop so hopefully that will keep the heat down.

Same as Allen Sebastiaan 33 degrees every day of the year up here practically. One big fan and one small fan in the shed, both going.

My little workshop is on the top floor of a heritage building, the ceiling is the roof of the building, 450mm of concrete with bitumen on top. Makes a great thermal battery, sucks up heat all day and pumps it out all night… was 35c at midnight a couple of weeks back.

I don’t mind the heat much, gives me a bit more open time with hide glue. But I’m over the rain, whoever’s in charge of the weather seems to have forgotten that Townsville is in the dry tropics. Guess I should get use to it, good chance I’ll be moving to Cairns in May and will have to deal with living in the wet tropics.

Guys, get this--it was 48 degrees in my shop this morning.

Of course, that's farenheit....

I lived and worked in both Cairns and Fitzroy Crossing for a couple of years as a youngling and remember returning to Sydney when everyone was complaining and wondering what they were complaining about.

Guess Im getting softer as time goes on....

It's been around 40 deg. C and 30% RH in my workshop for most of this week.

Getting better as we head away from the run of mid 43 and 45 deg C days
down here in Melbourne.
I'd hate to be copping it like Adelaide is at the moment.

Martin, I'd check on your curtains as I reckon they're a fair chance of melting away to a puddle on the workshop floor.

We've missed all the rain the rest of the top end has been getting, but it started this morning. The humidity has gone through the roof.

I'm trying to glue on some wings to a headstock out in the garage, and the glue simply will not dry. I can scrape up the squeeze out and apply it to something else. It's as wet as when I applied it 3 hours ago.

Yep… that’s what it has been like here for most of the past few weeks. I left the lid off a jar of instant coffee and the next day it had become liquid.

Now I remember why we left New Mexico. 11Oº F in the shade is too damn hot. The only thing that's missing is the Spring wind storms. They could get rather gnarly at times.

Three days of 45 degrees this week so we emptied the shed of anything that vaguely looked like a guitar and bought then home.

The aircon has been off at work too so we've been working in 37 degree heat in the staffroom. Bring on winter.

Today was only 29 degrees so it was much more bearable

Bob, I wish I had a pile of guitars like that in my living room!
But you do have my sympathy for the heat you guys are getting in SA and Victoria. Only mid 30s here in western Sydney, so I feel lucky. Don't set fire to anything.

When it is too hot or humid for luthiery I try to get on with all those OTHER things like fixing that broken tile that someone gave us, or glueing together that picture frame, or mounting this thing to a piece of wood to display in the kitchen, or make a box for THAT etc etc. This helps clear the shelves in the workshop.

Thankfully I live on high ground on the side of a hill. The street last night looked like you could go whitewater rafting.

I don't think I'll ever get use to it being so dark and raining like this, but still being 30 degrees.

Our home here in Townsville is on high ground too and not subject to flood! Looks like we won't be going to far for a few days though as roads are closed north, south and west.

Stay safe everyone.

Cheers

Alan
