Go-bar Deck
Go-bar Deck
Hi Folks
Happy New Year. I have a question: Apart from StewMac, where can I get locally made go-bars? I have a ready made space so do not need to build from scratch.

I got mine from Permex. They will cut to length for you as well. Just after I bought mine I found about 50 more of them at the local buy back shop at the tip. Got the lot for $2.

Bunning's sell bundles of bamboo garden stakes. You get dozens for a few bucks. About half of them have weak areas and will snap (do some test bends before you use them) - they go into the vege patch and the good ones stay in the workshop. Add rubber caps (also very cheap, get the white ones - black ones leave a mark on your work). I have been reusing the same bamboo rods for over a year and no failures. I have also used them inside the guitar as cheap spreaders. You can cut them to any size and when you want to remove them through the soundhole you reach in with garden secateurs and just cut them. They are so cheap that you can consider them to be disposable (reuse the caps of course). Even cheaper than the garden stakes are panels of bamboo screening which are dozens of rods wired together, but easily pulled apart.
