Today was a great day. Because of a fluke, I wasn't at work today. (They are rearranging our cubbie holes.) So, I was here when Rod True sent me an IM alerting me to an ad on Craigslist. There was a Performax 10/20 for sale. The ad said it hadn't been used much and had a few extras. $250 is steep at the moment, but gawd the thing is worth at least $500 or more. So I spoke with the bookkeeper and got a thumbs up. So I called and got the good news, it was still available. Off we went to pick it up. It looks like George used it less then a dozen times, or he is related to Hesh. Even though it was uncovered in a working shop, it was all but spotless.
As soon as I can bug my brother and get a hold of his camera I'll take pictures.
Yes, Virgina, there is a Santa Claus.
Thank you Rod!

Well you just got a bargain as far as I'm concerned. I was almost put off the Performax but then found that it doesn't really have any competition anyway, so I bought a second had low miles unit myself at $800.00 Australian, They retail at $1600AUS at the moment and I have been told they will be $2000 soon so I thought I was getting a good deal. Looks like you win Deal of the Year though Lillian.

I had to go look. The average price I'm seeing is $825 for just the sander. I can't find the stand. The casters are $125 for the set. So almost a grand.
The bookkeeper is happy with the find. But she did look at me and pointed out that there are no excuses now. All I could say was, "Yes dear."
I agree you guys are getting the short end of the stick on a lot of things. And most of it comes down to greed. Its not right. I'm always willing to pack up a box or two and send it out to you, but I know that doesn't always help.
I'll post pictures as soon as I get home again.

That is a great score Lillian! It just makes your whole week finding a great bargain like that doesn't it?
I found a 16-32 with stand and in/out feed tables a few months ago for $600 (Australian Rupees). It's got a bit of use, but everything still works properly.
Congrats on your bargain and an understanding bookkeeper.
