I am still keen on ebony and don't mind putting in a bit more, within reason, if I have to, to cover the depreciation.

Despite it being a bummer for us the lower dollar will help insulate the Australian economy from the world crisis and give a boost to exporters. Some of us might even sell a few guitars over seas. 8)

Scott Wise in WA has ebony I think. Perhaps we could ask him to quote as well.

Or with orders this large perhaps we should be going direct to mills or larger suppliers.

Just thinking out loud. Maybe for next time.

The money for the order has been sent Monday afternoon. Unfortunately the bloody exchange rate ended up at .6021  I ended up transferring $5,689 AU.

The difference between what I've collected and what was actually required, I've paid for, and I will have to recalculate what each of you will need to top up.

Do not worry about this for now. We'll do this when I've got the boards in the mail to each of you and I can tell you what your postage and the difference due to exchange rates is. I want to keep all the banking as simple as something this big will allow.

A big thank you to each and everyone of you that is participating in this group buy. Besides an exchange of ideas and camaraderie, this forum was set up to help us pull our combined purchasing power to get all of us a better deal on the goods that we require.

Will just have to be more creative in the future.

I think we should all send Allen a medal too.

As well as having to pack all of these suckers and re-send them he's got to recalculate all of the exchange rate stuff. Massive job.

If no medals are forthcoming I think we all owe you beer.

It's just me and a totally awesome wife that indulges my WAS and TAS, who is an unbelievable cook. Drop me a line if you want to take up the offer. I'm keen as any bloke to get a free beer.

Allen, you'll have to come down here to get your beer. Accomodation, food and beer however will be laid on.

G'day Allen,

First, thank you for your huge effort with the group buy. Even with a low aus dollar it's still a damm good deal and I'm glad to be a part of it.

I would also like to come for a drive to collect my wood order when it arrives. I would love to see your weissenborn copy first hand and bring one of my efforts for you to have a look at!

Will be in touch sometime soon!

Cheers

Alan

I'll hold onto your order Taffy, as well as Alan's.

As far as neck blank material, I've not looked around for any, but I will check out some places that I know in the next little bit to suss them out.

We spent about 8 months in McLaren Vale during our travels over a couple of vintages, Martin. Absolutely love the area, and the wife would move back in a heartbeat. Lot's of friends in the area, and I'll be sure to take you up on the offer the next time we head down that way.

I'd also like to thank Allen for helping me with this group purchase. It is a huge undertaking for him and deeply appreciated by me. I just wish the exchange rate was more favorable so you folks would have gotten a much better deal. The order has been placed and I will let you know when it ships.

Thanks again to each and everyone of you.

I'm sure that all of you are wondering what's happening with the fret board order.

I've contacted Bob, and his reply was that he's contacted his supplier, but the supplier saying it's not been sent yet because of a fire in the sawmill. Bob feels that this is perhaps less than truthful, (not his exact words  ) but this guy has not yet been paid, and Bob still has all our cash, so not to worry.

He is looking at other sources, checking to see how soon our order can be filled, and will let us know what's happening as soon as he can.

Thanks for the update Allen,

Tell Bob if he needs a few more bodies to join the posse heading up to the sawmill Im in. The sight of Hesh in his backless purple chaps alone should scare the sawmill owner into coming up with the goods

You know, it's really common for anyone that rides a cruiser style motorcycle in North America to have a set of chaps. Apparently they raise an eyebrow in Australia when you put them on. I don't care though, 'cause they make me feel special. 8)

I've been informed by Bob that the sawmill has our stock ready to cut, and that we can expect shipment to take place next week. Will continue to provide updates as I get them.

Thanks Allen, now take those chaps off. We don't want people pinching you on the bum and distracting you from our fretboard deal.

As soon as Bob mentioned the ANZLF forum the blood drained from the sawmill owner's face and his hands started shaking. No doubt there were images of Allen in his backless chaps and Hesh in his purple cowboy outfit flashing through the guys mind.

Make no mistake...the ANZLF is a force to be reckoned with!
