Oh yeah, and now I think of it because I am a rude wanker at times,,,,I am so sorry for hijacking YOUR thread Martin

Sorry for the confusion LMI and everyone else and again I am sorry to you too Martin, my bad. :?

(Really frick'en edgy bout this after all the hard work though)

Youre not the only one having a bad day mate.

After f****ng up he saddle on my 12 string this morning I went to the bldi dentist with at least three gaping holes in my pearly whites. Dentist wouldnt do any of the fillings there and then and made me make another booking to have the work done...and a second booking to see the dental hygenist. All this after I told the bloke when I made the appointment that I had at least three fillings to be done.

Might whip out to the shed tomorrow and do the fillings myself with the Dremel and the Stewmac precision router attachment. Would be a good chance to test out the new spiral downcut cutters I got in from Stewmac last week.

Thanks mate. Ill pay you back in pins with next Stewmac order.

The extra pins will come in handy.....an hour ago two of the buggers shot out of the bridge on the 12 string, bounced off the ceiling and disappeared behind a pile of tonewood. That's four of the buggers that have done that so far.

Martin,

If you have a 3 degree reamer and stewi sent you 5 degree pins, this could be your problem. What I am sending 12 x 3 degree slotted ebony pins with MOP dot, hopefully these will see the pin popping come to an end.

Cheers

Kim,

Pin popping was because I dont have ramps cut in my bridge pin holes. String was coming up to tension with ball not properly seated.......I was able to tell when the ball seated by the cracking sound the pin made as it bounced off the ceiling.

Excuse the side bar, but would one of you knowledge folk please translate "bldi" for me? I've looked in all the slang dictionaries I could find and came away empty handed. I just want to make sure I understand the nuances is all.

Bloody hell Lillian I thought that would have been obvious to blind Ned and his dog

Martin, the bridge pins are in an express post bag and are on the way to SA, should be there in Fridays mail at the latest.

Cheers

Shoot me if I am stating the bleedingly obvious here Martin, but don't you kink your strings at the ball end before you insert them? I bend the ball over so from the side the string looks like a - b - then stick it in the hole with the ball forward. That way it seats right the first time and the pins can't pop. (I also get disturbed by the thought that all the holes in the balls do not line up. Anal I know.)

If you do this and you still pop pins, well, could be karma. Were you a bastard in a past life?

Okay I pulled out the saddle and infilled the slot. Ive worked out position for new slot with more angle and closer to front of bridge on treble side. Tomorrow Ill re-route the slot and hopefully all the bldi bridge pins I need will turn up and I can do a full string up and continue with setup.

Neck relief is looking ok...with primary strings on theres a bit of relief and with all strings on it should be about where I want it.

hope the dentist doesn't have any of these plugging, re-routing problems.

Whatever the hoops and hurdles you have to jump through or over its a bldi nice looking guitar you got coming along there , Martin.

Well my dental hygenist was quite interesting. She kept talking about her "girlfriend". I couldnt ask any questions of course because she was busy mucking around inside my mouth

Okay today I had a deluge of bridge pins......5 sets from Hancock and co and then Kims pins arrived abut an hour later.

Anyway I got all the strings on and tuned her up to pitch and even without the saddle setup she sounds great. Big Dreadie sound and balanced tonally. Even the wife was impressed..and she doesnt impress easily.

Final set up tomorrow and then Sunday will be spent playing the cr*p out of the instrument.

Okay I finally got this sucker finished....saddle got done yesterday and Kims MOP/ebony bridge pins went in and I tuned her up. She sounds nice...loud but balanced..same as the last 6 string I built.

Pics arent the best..the camera's crap.
