I live in Fort Worth, 400 miles from the coast, just a little rain here. First landfall was Galveston Island with 110 mph winds. The government had ordered complete evacuation of Galveston, but estimated that 40% of residents stayed. There's extensive damage, but I haven't read of any deaths. Houston was also heavily hit and damaged (glass covering downtown streets). Utilities may be down for days or weeks. I'm waiting to hear from luthier friends in Houston, but haven't yet.
