Great tutorial Steve. The pictorial walk-through really gives a good instruction in the whole process. Do you pre-soak the paper for the wet sanding? If so, for how long?

I put some thin craft felt between the block and paper helps to stop the pick up .

I'm actually not a pre-soak the grit person, I do u dersatnd the merits of doing that, but time is always of the essence.
That differs when I am using micro fibre pads, these I will pre-soak as I appear to get a better result.
Yes sanding the neck is so easy to go through the finish, I use a rubber backing caul with my sandpaper
