Two Ugly Guitars

Post by loudkenny » Fri Sep 13, 2013 6:08 pm

These are two of the bodies I made in the last couple of years. They are nowhere as nice as some of the ones I saw while lurking around here, but I'm working on it.

The black one is my very first body I ever made. It's pine from a pine plantation near me that supposedly grew ship masts for the US Navy years ago. The wife and I found the wood when we went to the owner's estate sale looking for antiques.

This one was purely a labor of love - chambered pine body with spalted maple top, contoured heel and rib cutout. I learned more about how *not* to make a guitar doing this one...

They look good to me from here. I'm still learning how one shouldn't make them.....
I wish I was half the man my dog thinks I am....

They both look great to me. I love the rustic amp with Blackie, and the woodstack backdrop.
cheers

I have to apologize about the photo of the black guitar.

That photo is the only one I have of that guitar, and it was taken a couple of years ago.

I do own the woodpile, but I don't own the amp. It belongs to a very old photographer friend of mine
who frankly has more money than brains. I admit I wish it was mine...

I reckon that Tele looks just right against that amp Ken, in a few more years the neck will be tanned and if you play it plenty you might just wear through some of that black paint bringing a touch more wood into the picture.

I have to say that I like this kind of "ugliness"! :D
