Folks, I'm writing to ask a favour - this is totally off the lutherie topic I'm afraid.
My daughter is currently in Melbourne on her "working holiday visa" and was about to start her three months of farm work - that part of the deal is mandatory if you want your second year's visa. She set off for what turned out to be a scam - an outfit that just manages to stay on the right side of the law, but were a shabby bunch for sure.
She needs a job in rural Australia! Fruit picking, anything that pays, and will get her second year visa.
If you can help, please send me a PM.
Much appreciated,
luthier in need of a little help.

How would berry picking on the north coast of NSW be?
Plenty of blue berry farms there and they are looking for 500 more international workers.

Macadamia season in the Northern Rivers. Shit hard work if you have to pick them up by hand, but....
Probably not 3 months left in it, tho....

Maybe you could name and shame the outfit that stiffed your daughter up.....nkforster wrote:

The conditions of the working holiday visa don't sound right. When my wife was here on a working holiday visa it wasn't mandatory to have job to keep the visa valid and the visa was valid for max of 12 months. The rules may have changed but might pay to check the visa conditions with the authority that issued the visa.

Okay things have changed. You can now apply for a second working holiday visa providing you worked 3 months on the first visa....as in your OP.

Would still be keen to know details of the dodgey agency.

There are plenty of Woofing jobs here in Gippsland - VIC. Horse's, Olives, Farmwork... It's unpaid, but it will help with the visa and most of the times you get fed and livingspace as well.
