Not just Desert Ukes

Post by Clancy » Mon Sep 24, 2012 9:06 pm

It wasn't just the odd uke that I was called on to create during my stay in Alice Springs.
Just another way I've enjoyed making my little mark in this world.
I used central australian timbers mostly (gidgee, mulga & desert oak) with a pillar of ebony inlaid with figured mulga.
The top of the pillars are cut to resemble the mulga bird atop the ebony pillar and represent the ranges that cut through the desert.

Looking purdy Craig, had to do a double take on the trophy name though...Champion birder?? WTF's a birder?

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

Yeah Nick, I had to get clarifaction on that as well.
My initial design had a pair of "bush coconuts" (from the bloodwood tree) supported in a flimsy sling of macramed spinifex grass.
Apparantly I had the wrong idea......
