Selmer Style ?

I spotted this guitar on eBay, and thought it looked pretty cool.You may be interested to see it as well.
I don't want to buy it and have nothing to do with selling it.
Any one know what it is? it's not an actual Selmer is it ? No labels to be seen. I was counting frets to body ,looks like 13 to me.were all originals 12 ? I did a little searching for info on originals

It certainly doesn't look original. The body shape is way out, particularly the upper bout on the bass side as it approaches the neck, the head stock, the tail-piece and numerous other details are not consistent with a Selmer-Maccaferri, i.e. the Grande Bouche or D shaped sound hole guitar that was produced until the mid 30's. The original Selmer-Maccaferris were 12 frets to the body. That doesn't mean that it isn't worth buying, but if it were an original, its value would be many times the value that the current bidders are putting on it.

The string alignments is a bit of a worry. Looks like its had a repair at the tail block and alignment wasn't high on the agenda. Neither was hiding the work unless the inlet block into the (edit) 'back' is a standard for a macca style. If it is a previous repair then it looks like the impact damage had been brutal as it also looks like the lower bout, bass side, back quarter of the side has been quite badly cracked, probably at the same time.......bloody domestics, they've destroyed far too many good old guitars. Guess the thought must be that if Selmer really want to hurt her man, there's no better way than a hardt kick in the Dejangos. It's enough to make ya Macca Fairies.

Even if it was an original Selmer (which it isn't), it's been 'got at' so much, and rather poorly I might add! That I wouldn't have thought a valid collector of Selmers would want it as either a player or an investment. Good luck to the seller but very much a case of caveat emptor, I see the seller has stopped just short of declaring it as genuine enough to cover their arse but certainly pushes the name Selmer & Django in the sales pitch.
