Hi All,
Finished #3, a parlor for my six year old grandson. This one sounds better than the first two, and is the first one where I am even remotely pleased with the finish.
The Specs:
Top: Sitka
B/S: IRW
Neck: Spanish Cedar with an oak center lam
Fretboard: Madagascar Rosewood
Frets: EVO
Headstock decoration: light saber. He's six, what can I say?
Rosette: Left-over rosewood from my second guitar's back.
Finish: Tru-Oil
The wires you can see through the sound port are a set of K&K minis.
Thanks for looking.

Nice work Paul, he's a very lucky boy.
What scale length did you make it for him?

Re: #3, done and delivered!
Can't beat a parlor size guitar. So easy to play!
Nice work mate and the bound fingerboard looks a treat.
How did you come up with the size of the sound port and did you use a patch to support it inside the guitar?
Where did you buy the case for it mate and how much?
Sorry about all the questions.
Very nice guitar, thanks for sharing.
Cheers
Alan

Re: #3, done and delivered!
Thanks folks!
It's a 24 inch scale. I wanted it short so it would be easy to play for a child, but long enough to stay in tune.
I got the case from FineCases.com (http://www.finecases.com/canadian-case- ... -case.html). It ran me US $110 plus shipping. They were prompt and had the case to me in just over a week.
The sound port started out much smaller (I used an off-cut from the soundboard to reinforce the port). I enlarged it a little at a time after stringing it up (but before doing the finish) until it sounded right to me. Someday I'll learn the math and just do it once
. Then I took the bridge off and did the finish work.

Nice job Paul. Your skills are coming along nicely.
I've been toying with the idea of possibly taking the next Woodcraft class. Would you say it was worth your time?

Hey Todd -- I hand-rubbed the finish. 25 coats (and wasn't that fun...much easier than french polish, though). Tru Oil's only flaw that I can identify is that it really stinks up the house. Even with the door to my workshop closed, and the outer door open to vent the place, upstairs, the cats were trying to figure out how to open the sliding door and escape.
Hey Lillian!
I wish I could take the class -- perhaps this summer I can. We are trying to get the house ready to sell, and my discretionary income is in the negative range at the moment.
