What's up with the....
Aussie Labour party at the moment? We don't get alot of info on this side of the Tassy only the sensational stuff....As in Rudd tossing his toys out the cot. He's not seriously wanting to get back into power is he? Poor bugger's only just removed Julia's knife from the last time and she's carrying on like he's done the ultimate dirty on her (after her kicking him in the nuts) by resigning his cabinet position.
Just wondered what the story was because as I say, we don't get alot of backstory here.
P.s. Is it just me? but every time that woman speaks I immediately think of Kath Day Knight from Kath & Kim

Unlike the United States of America, where clowns are not allowed to run for political office. Clown are very honest, humble people, willing to work hard to try make the world a better place.Tod Gilding wrote:Yeah Nick Looks like the Ranga's gone but over here it's just a choice between clowns, their all hopeless

Re: What's up with the....
Had exactly the same problem over this side of the Tassy Paul. I wanted to vote for one of the minor parties (because they were probably the least party acting like politicians & more like humans) but because of our MMP system, it meant that if they had got good numbers then they'd side with Labour, who were an absolute pack of wombles (worse than the pack that got in) before the election & I definitely didn't want them in!ozwood wrote:It's a sad , Sad day when you rock up to the Polling booths and think which is the Least worst of these Imbeciles , We don't vote for the best candidate , It's just the One That less of a F%#@kwit than the Other!!!!![]()

Dennis and Tod again clowns are surely more talented.

Ah!! the stick and carrot of politicking rages on. Of course we all know we would be far better off with Johnny 'eye brows' and "the worlds greatest treasurer" back at the helm of the economy...but looking past the carrots it does make one wonder what the "economically responsible" and most righteous right wing of aussie politics would 'fire sale' this time to cleverly balance the books???
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2010-03-05/w ... old/351864
And that was written back in 2010!!! What would that blunder be worth today??? Rhetorical question of course because the Chinese could tell you in a flash..after all, they did but the lot in one way or another for just $330 and ozzie... Onya Pete..we don't hear too much about that little feather in ur cap in the media now do we..
But fear not cause budgie boy has all the answers...he'll magically turn back the hands of time to the 'good old days', back when we rode to work upon the back of a sheep and the wife stayed at home with the kids where she belongs... except for Sund'y morn'in of course when you would plonk her arse next to ya on the bench seat of the freshly shampooed Kingswood and take her and the kids for a spin down to the local church to sit out 2/3rds of the mid morn'in mass before flick'in the missus the bus fare home and cutt'in early to get on the piss with ya mates through the arvo session to then drive home to dinner wait'in on the doubler boiler with a king brown clamped between ya legs...and the 'boat people' where half decent dagoes, or at worst, those little buggers who had to be let in cause they fought along side the diggers against LBJ's swarm'in yella peril..
Yep, sleep well, with Tony and his cronies your future would be in much better hands AU. No carbon tax to curb the environmental vandalism unloaded upon the rest of us by the arses of corporate greed which only identify "unsustainable" as a door to an opertunity to cash in quick while demand still outstrips supply while the rest of us keep our heads buried in our credit contract decorated holes in the ground...Oh, and speaking of 'holes in the ground' there will be no rent resource tax either imposed upon the foreign owned dynamos of our 'two speed economy' which to this point has only managed to mirror growth of their own annual profits with a reverse reflection for the majority of the rest of our community who are 'not' bless with the higher income offered by one of Australia's 'smallest over-all employers'...the mining industry.... High wages which strip away skilled labour to cripple this countries manufacturing industries and leave the rest of the community struggling to compete and make ends meet....But don't worry, when these multi nationals saviours of the Australia economy have finally exhausted the finites, they will fuck off and leave us with all the holes we need in which to bury our heads to hide our embarrassment from the world over how badly we allowed ourselves to be diddled...so badly that we even voted in governments to help make it happen as quickly as possible.
That said I must agree that both major political parties in AU do have their problems and both seem only to see foreign investment as the grail and remain oblivious to the term "Public Asset".. You can call that socialism if you will, but as a business model the Chinese seem to be doing a pretty good job of making it work...even as far from home as right here in AU where the Chinese Gov continue with a resource grab which can only result in Australian's ending up the servant. But... even if in a confused, and at times mismanaged way, at least this Labour Federal government has managed to bring forward some major infrastructure developments and reforms which will only benefit all Australians in the long run...But that never seems to happen with the libs. With them SFA gets spent on infrastructure unless its to pork barrel a marginal. Instead its all about stripping back public services and there's never anything confused or mismanaged in their modus operandi.
They have a proven formula which they stick to. In opposition it's a straight forward approach of...NO!..NO!...NO!!! regardless of what it is that's on the table and the real cost to the community, the only thing that 'really' matters is to NEVER allow the other side to be seen as being effective even if they are doing the right thing. When they get back to business, its business as usual...BIG business as usual ...with all media outlets on board and Rupert, and now Gina also pull'in the strings, the great spiel from the 'social commentators' will hit the papers pushing the message that: They will do anything to create jobs and get those bludging surfies and lazy cripples off the dole cue who are smoking, drinking, injecting and enjoying all of your taxes and preventing the government from giving you the services which you expect form government. The catch cry is always the same, that profit growth sustainability is king, get that right and the wealth will flow on down to us all..but that's not the reality. The reality is that less flows and its all about spinning a buck for those who matter and it will continue to do so until one day, when the great unthinking students of the 6 o'clock news again become frustrated and begin to look past the carrots in the evening spews, they will once again seek salvation at the poles in Labour's latest iteration of Gough, Bob, Kevin or Julia, but it won't really matter if they manage things well and do a good job or not, because we all know what happens to messiahs in the end...the only difference these days is that nails are digital.

In all of this please don't misunderstand me. I'm by no means advocating Labour as the party perfect, and the Greens, well they mean well I'm sure but Bob makes demands at times that are so unrealistic that people stop taking him seriously...the democrats...well Meg killed Don's baby the moment she jumped in the sack with eyebrows and his red hot and throbbing GST. So alternatives are pretty thin on the ground and the truth is it's all a bloody circus. Chances are you will be disappointed no matter which of em you let run the country, the depth of that disappointment just depends on your income it seems.
I guess that's bound to happen when you allow people who have had to prove themselves more ruthless, self serving, treacherous, back stabbing, and deceptive than the next guy just to gain pre-selection in their chosen party, to rise to the top of a couple of hundred others slithering individuals and take charge....that's the one thing you gotta respect about the Libs, as a party they don't try to hide that fact. They make it very clear that for them, its 'all' about the money...but aside from that there all much the same. Most on both sides have a law degree these days (paid for in full by the tax payer at a time before they gained office to imposed hex fees upon our kids) and each has generally stood upon the hands and faces of those along the ladder through the trade unions, commerce groups, or local government path they took to get to Canberra...An interesting thing to look back at is which party had been in government in Australia each time we have committed troops to war..its an odd thing to bring up I guess but then war is the ultimate conveyor of public money into the private purse....or is it that I've just become a little jaded???

Ah, Dennis...my take is slightly toward clowns allowed in office. When I see all the Republican candidate hopefuls lined up at debate a vision of a tiny circus car where 12 clowns roll out of that sucker sweeps over my brain.Dennis Leahy wrote:Unlike the United States of America, where clowns are not allowed to run for political office. Personally, I oppose the Westminster style of government. I believe the people should have the ability to vote in the nation's leader, as in the US.... My wife thinks I'm a Phillistine....
I'm quite certain we could do away with the office of Governor General, who spends $120,000/yr on FLOWERS for her public funded multiple official residences. Goodness me, where I live almost no one MAKES $120,000/yr.
As for messers Howard and Costello, it seems that they sold every asset that the people of Australia owned, and the cupboard is bare....Might do to make the foreign mining companies actualloy PAY for what they are tearing out of OUR COUNTRY....
Abbott is an ass dressed up in a suit. I shudder to think of him as Prime Minister....wouldn't have minded Turnbull, as he seemed to be intelligent....at least and well-meaning...
Nice to see Rudd kicked to the back bench, but promoting Carr to Foreign Minister will not doubt cause Gillard a bit of woe down the road--didn't even know he was in Parliament

Maybe we should just get rid of Parliament and just have a CEO voted in by the population for 2 years at a time, give him or her the power to do it all and then judge their performance at the end of the term.
Re: What's up with the....
Then we could also decide on the renumeration / bonus based on performance.
And if not then the French Revolution had a pretty good solution that should be brought back into practice.

I like your performance based idea Allen, although it seems this is flawed also
