Cocobolo Guitar
I'm building a cocobolo guitar for a guy in Q/land. Had nothing but trouble all the way along. 1st set of coco split. Got another set from RC tonewoods, much nicer and no splits like the set my customer supplied. Gluing is a real pain i've had to reglue several joints because of the oil in the timber and that's after using acetone to wipe the surfaces, anyway it's all together now just have to install tuners and set it up. I don't think i'll be using coco again. Wayne

The Coco looks good despite your problems.
I agree with Tod about the binding.
What other timbers did you use?

Re: Cocobolo Guitar
I used Adirondack spruce for the soundboard and Koa for bindings and end graft. I used Ebony for fretboard and bridge. I installed the tuners, nut and saddle today, strung it up all seems good got a nice tone to it. Just needs to be unstrung so i can polish the nut and saddle, steel wool and oil the fretboard and polish the guitar, when i'm done i'll post some finished photos. Wayne

G'day Wayne.
Nice work mate.
What are the holes in the neck block?
Do you 'pin' the neck to the body?

Hi Craig, yes i pin the neck with 2 tapered pins 1 from each side, the holes are reamed with a tapered reamer and pins are made to suit, works well, also makes it a bit easier to remove neck if need be. Wayne
