Have you used this form of bracing without the carbon tow? Tidy ends on that tow by the way.

No. I haven't. But I think there might be others who have. With the CF I'm just about as close to the edge as I want to be. If you go without the CF, you'd want a deal more wood in the bracing to better resist long term creep, then the braces are stiffer, monopole mobility decreases etc. etc. and it's whole redesign. No issue with that, of course, but what I've got works really well for me.

Hi Trevor, What percentage of stiffness do you think to CF adds roughly? Are we talking 10 to 15% of more?
My thought being that adding some height to the braces (10 to15%) and then tap tuning the top should work fine without the added complexity of the CF.

It's not adding height to get the same stiffness that's the issue. It's the extra bulk additional to that that's needed (IMO) to reduce the creep. X-bracing of typical dimensions (significantly larger than I use for CF/falcate bracing) still creeps.

The list is already poorly hidden Trev ( oh God, on second thoughts maybe I should not have hidden it in my partners handbag). Is the instrument that this top goes with a four stringed instrument, like is it some sort of big ukulele. Maybe I should ask why the four holes that look like a bridge pin hole instead of six.

The radiata top is for a steel string guitar on a classical body shape. The falcate braces pass between the bridge pins. The easiest way to make sure that they do is to drill four of the bridge pin holes first and then make sure the braces pass between as you glue them down. This obviously has knock-on effects when it comes to bridge placement, because you can't just plonk it on. It's no big deal though, provided you think about it first and it's not really any harder than some of the more usual methods. All the details are in the usual place.

No I don't Martin. It's on the list that I hid in my partners handbag though.

I thought it must have been something like that Trev but was trying not to assume. I had the same issue on the balsa/tow lattice and had to get it all spot on to avoid hitting the centre brace that was situated between the D and The G string pin (the lattice is parallel and ninety degrees to the sound board join)

If it's anything like my partner's Jim, even she won't find it in there! Maybe a rethink & a sticky note on the fridge door maybe more effective?
