A concert not to be missed

Post by kiwigeo » Wed Dec 08, 2010 10:21 pm

Jean Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, Lenny White, Stan Clark and Bill Conners in concert:

I'd go this gig just to see Ponty......saw him back in the 70's touring with John Maclaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra and he totally blew me away.

Thanks for the heads up Martin, a not to be missed concert!

Ponty also did a tour by himself (with Stanley Clarke) after his solo album was released. This was after he left Zappa but before he hooked up with Chick Corea. Great concerts from what I can remember....

I'd go if he came to Bris. I saw Ponty with Zappa and George Duke in the mid 70s, unforgettable. I don't come within galaxy or two of playing like Ponty but I use the same strings. :D

Ponty is a very down to earth musician..the magnitude of his ego doesnt exceed that of his musical abilities like alot of other musos. I emailed him once to ask if he was going to Tour Down Under again in the near future and received a reply with an answer to my question (no) and an explanation (cost...he can only tour if part of a bigger act).
