Ear Ache

Post by Hippety Hop » Fri Oct 23, 2009 10:22 pm

The last bunch of uke necks I got were a little too narrow for my headstock template, so I decided to forego one neck to make ears for two others.

Then after sanding I found the joins stuck out like dog's ears (Am I allowed to say balls?), forcing me to cover the sides.

You can even see the scarf in the ears! Dog's Balls.

So now that the ears are hidden top back & sides, I realise that I could have had mahogany or maple ears and saved myself a nice figured blackwood neck.

More Dog's Balls.

Hip.

Should look good Hip....even for dogs balls  The only difference between a good and bad builder is by how well they hide the cock ups & the only way that can happen is if cock ups are made in the first place! As I was told during my apprenticeship...The person that has never made a mistake has never made anything.
Looks like some nicely figured blackwood you've got.

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.
