hey everyone,
might be an unlikely question, but does anyone do working drawings of their instruments on a computer? i need to do one for my folio, and im not sure if there are any great programs to do so (preferably free).
cheers

hey pal, i know that LMI have plans in PDF format that you could play around in photoshop with to get you out of trouble. these plans are free and the beauty is that you can print them to any size up to A0 which is scale of 1:1. i would probably stick to what has been around for a while rather than creating different unknown plans. P.S LMI have about 3 different steel string plans dreadnought, OO and an Orchestra Model or OM as they are affectionatly referred to. what stage are you up to with your building i might be able to post you a heap of useful stuff. hope this helps
You can check out Christophe Grellier's site. He offers plans that he's drawn under the Creative Commons License.

i actually already have the dreadnought herringbone plan from stewmac, which im going to be working from, but i need to do dimensioned workshop drawings, preferably on the computer to scab extra marks. There is a big emphasis on design in my course, including the development.
On top of that, im not really good with free hand or drawings in any shape or form lol
cheers

Google have a free 3D modelling software download called Google SketchUp. The site has links to training videos too.

Josh, you can try AllyCAD. It looks like what you are looking for. I haven't given it a go. I have AutoCAD already.

And if that doesn't float your boat, check this site out. It lists all the freeware out there.

Try this. Takes about 5 seconds to figure out how to work it.
I don't think it runs on Windows Vista
