Melbourne Guitar Makers Festival
Re: Melbourne Guitar Makers Festival
Will be nice to get away from the smoke for a few days , Thanks for the heads up in regards the weather Rod, I'll pack an extra Jumper.10 degrees in Melbourne at the moment and persistent rain, really feeling for our northern friends with their state ablaze.
Rod.
Cheers,
Paul .

Re: Melbourne Guitar Makers Festival
Very successful weekend. It was great to catch up with a heap of forum members and put some faces to names and a few of us went out for a meal and a few drinks on the Saturday night at the Caringbush Hotel. I have no tales to tell as it was all very civilized - no one was ejected and no police were called.
Lots of nice instruments on display and there were concerts arranged to showcase the instruments.
Here's some pics.

He's there to make sure you don't nick off with the rent money from the sale of the guitars and spend it on Guinness??Bob Connor wrote:That's my landlord

Hi All,
Jeff and I had a great time in Melbourne, got to meet Bob and Zippy, Rod, Stu and Kim S and caught up with Trevor.
Left at 4.00 am got to newcastle Airport at just before 5.00 am on the plane at 5.30 in Melbourne at 7.20am jumped on the Skybus, in the CBD by 8.15 am , brisk walk to Degreaves St for some brekky, short train ride , short walk, looked at some guitars, lunch at the convent markets, fell asleep, had a coffee, went for a nanna nap, had a great dinner with Bob, Zipppy, Stu, Jeff , Trevor and Jane. had a few beers
, some wine,
back to sleep, woke up, back to the show, looked at some guitars , went to a presentation on building with unavailable timber
and breaching guitars ( happened to me once , I was fishing, a Guitar came up let out a G and swam off)
bought some timber , said goodbye
, short walk , short train ride, then a tram ride , Lunch at the QV markets, Coffee, Skybus, Plane watching, dinner , Plane ride, home by 10.30 pm .
Thanks to Bob, Stu, Rod and Zippy for their Southern Hospitality , was a real pleasure to spend time with you guys, and Melbourne is always a treat.
some Pics, Stu managed to evade all of them

Yep looks like the place to be. I tried to order a HNT Gordon small spoke shave today as a present for my upcoming birthday and Terry said he sold out at the Festival.
Some wonderful looking instruments there!
Thanks for the pictures.
Cheers

Re: Melbourne Guitar Makers Festival
Thanks guys for posting the pics for those of us that couldn't make the trip. Some nice twangers on show there! Rod, as usual an nice selection on show. That first picture of the Woodtone stand, the glow coming off that archie is gorgeous! Who's (builder) is the semi hollow Bass?
Many people have their interest tweaked by the double strung Weezy Bob?
As usual Tim Kill brings something different, combines two of my interests clocks and guitars all in one package
and I like the look of Jack Spira's little slot head even though it's got Paua inlays!
A high standard presented by all builders

Got sick of talking about the bloody thing Nick.Nick wrote:Many people have their interest tweaked by the double strung Weezy Bob?

It did exactly what I thought it would. Created interest and got more people looking at the other instruments as well.

Re: Melbourne Guitar Makers Festival
Looks like the sort of place I would enjoy. Funny how that bass just stands right out for me, maybe cause it is a bass amongst a bunch of guitars but maybe cause it just looks so good, well done Rod. Well done all for that matter, like I keep telling myself "maybe next time".

Sorry Jim I thought you meant the E335 Style Bass Guitar in the case (Rod's) not the upright double bass...
