G'day Fella's,

Just to put my two cents worth in. My family have been milling in Tassie for over 60 years and what we found was that the blue stain would be caused from steel. When the knots would chip blades or teeth it would leave the blue stain. However what we would do especially when slicing veneer is take it straight from the conveyor into a tub of oxalic acid. If you slice it then leave it you run the risk of blue stain. The same goes with dampening the sides prior to putting it on the side bender. The thing is with Oxalic acid is that its not great for your hands so use gloves and make sure that you don't use too much guys. The results of years of dipping into oxalic acid is that i can't use certain soaps or my hands peel. So be careful hey!

I hope this helps guys,

Regards,

Matt.
