Hi all,
Just thought I would share some photos of a restoration job I have been working on. This is a hand carved guitar from Java which cracked heavily when brought here and left in the previous owners dry garage - huge humidity change...
Anyway, just thought I would share the progress I have been making...'
Restoration job
Re: Restoration job
Interesting looking instrument. What's the square opening in the back of the thing?

Re: Restoration job
Something to give access to the inside of it, was there when I took possession of it from the guy who brought it in from Java.
The bridge has been reglued and drilled a number of times and the opening in the back must have been some way for access to the inside of the guitar for bracing etc...
I will leave it because I may want to put a pickup in it (depending on the finished sound) and hopefully use it for performances as a talking piece.
