Anyone thinking of Building a Tele in the next week or two

Post by simso » Sun May 11, 2014 3:18 pm

Folks, the title saids it all,

After someone or maybe even a couple of people that are thinking of making a tele in the next week or two

I have a free set of routing / tracing templates I want them to try out, whilst they make perfect sense to me, I need someone to try them out with no external help,

I also need to know if they need modifiying accordingly.

I intend to eventually start selling these in 6mm Mdf (cheaper version) and 6mm Perspex (expensive version) through ebay

If your interested, Pm me, Ill supply the template set with a piece of paulonia as well to do the test run, got heaps of that stuff

To make it fair, you must be a forum member of at least 6mths.

The tele shape is my design

That's awesome of you Steve. If only the humidity wasn't swinging so much in my shed...D'OH

Is it designed to take a standard Fender all parts tele neck?

Standard tele yes, all parts version I do not know.

My goal, is to do a line of templates, strat, lp, sg and so forth, I know what I am doing and what I teach in house, but I am unsure if this correlates.

Hi Steve,

Sorry, I don't plan on a Tele, but I'd be interested in buying a set of templates for a Les Paul when you get around to it.

Thanks,
GregL.

Hey Steve. I'll have a go, if you like. I built mine with a few templates I traced off my 52RI. Comparing what I did to yours might be a good idea?

I'd be happy to photo document as I go, then you could comment if my method and yours coincide without direct instructions.

Let me know if this appeals...

Here's mine......

Nope, had yours all cut and went out to pick up a new router, I had another person make an enquiry through the board and they came up whilst I was out, so one of my guys gave them your one.

I did another lot up the next day and bundled it with a block of paulownia for you, no idea how long it will take to get to you but, as we are talking Aussie post, it's faster shipping something from the states to my door than across Australia.

Got the package this morning, Steve. Had a quick look before work, and it looks neat and tidy. I have a couple early suggestions that I'll address when I have a chance to sit down for more than a minute.....back to work at the moment.....got tomorrow an friday days off, so ought to be able to finish the body one of those days.....

Oh, and thanks. I know it's for your purposes, too, but it's very kind of you to supply all the gear.
