National Folk festival 2013

Post by peter.coombe » Fri Apr 12, 2013 3:11 pm

Here are some pictures of the music instrument makers display at the National Folk Festival in Canberra this year. Apologies to those I missed or names I got wrong. Not every one is here.

This year the NFF made a few changes that worked for us. We had two doors in the building so people could walk through from one end to the other, and the building was more centrally located in the festival. I had a lot more interest than previous years (I sold 2 mandolins) and the feed back I have had indicates others had the same. Lots of instruments were sold, so whatever the NFF has done to stimulate sales, long may that continue.

On the Saturday night we had the instrument makers concert that played to a packed house. Here is Martin Reese and Terry playing one of my Myrtle mandolins and my Myrtle guitar.

Peter, Thanks for posting this years pics...I wish I was there...:)

Great to see some familiar faces as well as some new exhibitors that I didn't recognize. A really nice surprise to see Dan Dubowski there after such a long time.

I dont know if anyone heard it but I wrote an email to Ian McNamara on Australia All Over about the NFF Instrument Makers Display. I didn't hear it but I was told that he read it on air. I was trying to give all instrument makers every where a plug but especially the NFF exhibition. I have emailed him back with a link to this thread....Any publicity is good publicity I suppose...:)

Cheers

John

Ah the National ,
Such good times . The all night jams are pretty close to heaven .
And what a great platform for the makers . Our ten week old baby stopped us getting there this time , maybe next round .

Thank you Peter for taking your time to post these pictures, I really enjoy them. I'm glad that interest has increased. Congratulations for the sales! :cl
