Goings on in my workshop
Goings on in my workshop
Not much to offer for a week in the shop. Most of the time has been spent touching up the french polish on a Dreadie 6 string top prior to gluing the bridge on. Pics attached are of the fretboard for a matching 12 string. This is the first time Ive attempted binding on a fretboard. The binding is Stewmac 0.080" maple binding scraped down to 0.060" prior to gluing onto the ebony fretboard. The fretboard has been radiused to 16'-12'-10' compound radius using radiused sanding blocks. In the pics Im scraping off excess epoxy glue after gluing in paua markers. I mix ebony dust with the epoxy to mask any gaps around outisde of the markers.

Slow progress as usual in the shop. Most of the weekend has been spent in the garden...or whats left of it.
Managed to route the truss rod channel for the 12 string and make a start on the headstock binding. The truss rod channel routing jig is based on the one in John Mayes excellent DVD set. I didnt have any hold down clamps available so I ran screws through the top of the jig into the neck blank to secure it into the jig.
