Friday 13th

Post by Alastair » Fri Jan 13, 2012 11:14 am

Just noticed the date.

I'll avoid anything like bracing, routing bindings, or other high risk tasks today.

I've had enough visits from the fairy lately :( :(
Regards

I did.....and broke 2 BH Sassafras sides.

Why, of why, do I insist on trying to make the stupid dumb arse stinkin side bending machine WORK when I can bend sides perfectly well on the iron?

Robert Gsell, one of the first Swiss who learned to fly a Blériot (in 1912) found himself later working as an expert in the Ministery for Research on Airplane Accidents (he had plenty of own accident experience which was kind of normal back in those days - for surviving pilots...). Once he did a research on if fridays 13ths really appeared with more accidents in the statistics than other days. surprise, surprise, it really did! But why? Gsell did some further research on the subject, he wanted to know who exactly were those pilots who crashed their plane on friday 13ths. And again: surprise, surprise, all of them were known to be scared to death by fridays in general, and specially when they were a 13th.

So, you better don't mulch blackberry while you are scared!

To be stupid is like to be dead. Oneself will not be aware of it.
It's only the others who suffer.

Sunday 15th was my unlucky day.

I took part in the Ride Like Crazy bike ride here in Adelaide. Just out of Uraidla in the Adelaide Hills I was on a down hill section moving at 67k/hr when the bloke in front of me braked hard to dodge someone who'd slammed on the anchors in front of him. His bike cartwheeled and he went over the handlbars and went sliding towards the side of the road. The bike slid along the road in front of me heading towards the centre line..right into my path. Only one thing for it....pedal faster and try and beat the sliding bike to the centre line. I made it and dodged past the bike by about 100mm. I went back to check on the guy and he said he was ok...I learned later on that he got a free ambulance ride to hospital and has some minor abrasions and contusions.
