Do not Disturb.

Post by kiwigeo » Sun Dec 04, 2011 3:34 pm

If anybody needs me Im busy....erecting a Stratco garden shed. If I ever meet the bloke who wrote the instruction manual for the bldi thing he's in serious trouble.

Yesterday was spent laying a cement slab for the shed...me and two Serbian mates slogging it for 5 hours. At the end we were right down to the last shovel of premix.....had to get down with a dustpan and brush and sweep up every last piece of premix to get the job finished.

Did you mix by hand ?

Or have the luxury of an electric mixer?

3 guys x 5 hours sounds like by hand.

They are a great invention, I only used a mates one for the first time about three years back, still really hard work though. But I loved that mixer.

3 x 5 hours sounds right, I always under estimate this sort of thing, I did a slab a few years back with 3 of us ,we boarded up the form work in the morning ,the truck delivered the mix at 1pm and we had the thing finished at 5 pm, I though it would have taken half as long at the beginning, it was approximately 3.5 x 5 . Heck of a hard days work

I just got the mixer back on loan again, That face plate lathe project I posted on hear ages back, is going to be filled with concrete.

Martin, do you really believe your luthier friends were not after your "firewood"?
After your confession you'd better order some more premix for the walls and roof as well.

Well there are a few pieces of tonewood that are firewood quality.....they were supplied by a couple of firewood merchants located in British Colombia, Canada.

Yep just received the worst top ever. This time it was POC (Cypress) its so buckled and twisted Cathy asked me what i was going to do with it 'bin it or burn it i reckon'. Just pot luck I guess sometimes Martin but still don't like getting dudded, my rubbish came from Oregon this time. Maybe sacrifice this stuff to the 'God of Luthiery"

There's been a few times I've felt like firing up the sacrificial pyre I can tell you! but a whisky or two (or three) later & a good nights sleep usually remedies the situation

Watching the Blackcaps beat the Ozzies in the second test would also be a good way to "remedy the situation"
