Planetary tuners

Post by Dominic » Mon Nov 21, 2011 8:42 am

Hey, anyone know where to get decent planetary tuners? Trevor mentions some 16/1 tuners he uses in his modern classicals. I've had a search and have not been able to find any.
Cheers

Hey Dom.

I contacted "Pegheds" a short while ago for their range and pricelist. I've read a lot of positive feedback on the quality of these, but am yet to try them myself.

He sent through his current catalogue which I've attached. Being a very small (low production) company, they do not offer luthier discounts etc, but do quantity breaks. They only kick in at around 18 complete sets though, so they are not very relevant to most individual luthiers. Perhaps music shops are who could take advantage of such discounts but to the best of my knowledge, no-one in Australia is distributing them.

I think he said up to 2lbs shipped by USPS was $34 US.

Hope it helps.

Jeremy.

I have fitted Pegheads to a couple of early 19th century guitars. They worked quite well and simple to install

cheers
