quilt and flame maple

Post by MBP » Tue Aug 23, 2011 10:56 am

Hi guys,

Does anyone have a recommended vendor for maple, quilted, flame or birdseye.

Has anyone bought any from the sites recommended vendors?

Mainly for electrics but some euro for acoustics would also be nice.

MBP,

1. Most of my tonewood comes from ANZLF preferred vendors.
2. Do a quick search of some of the same vendors websites and you'll most likely find what youre after. Failing that drop them a line.

Hey MBP, I have been looking for good sources of figured maple for archtops and it is difficult to get and expensive. Our preferred vendors do not do much in the way of archtop wedges in maple or spruce. You really need someone who specialises in figured maple.

But I have found a number of suppliers in the US. Try these.

I got some nice boards from these guys.

Have not used these guys but I will soon.

Also, I got some nice drop tops from Perry Ormsby in Perth last year http://www.ormsbyguitars.com. Worth a look.

Cheers
Dom

that is a good one to keep an eye on. Also there stock list.

Also pacific rim tonewoods might be worth contacting for you, they are 'the' big supplier, minimum order but excellent prices, I would also get some stuff if you needed to fill the order.

Thanks Dominic
