Re: Support the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
There seems to have been a run on the socks. They have been overwhelmed by credit card orders.
I'll check back Monday as requested.

Thats both bad news and good news. The whole operation I think is being run by volunteers so theyre probably being run off their feet.Lillian wrote:There seems to have been a run on the socks. They have been overwhelmed by credit card orders.

If you don't have any luck Lillian I can spare you a pair of woman size socks from my order.

Wonder if that explains the sock shortage....perhaps they wore them all out...Why no size 13??? Oh yes, of course..hobbits NZ is crawling with hobbits......but wait on...hobbits have really 'big' feet....but then they are quite hairy, their feet I mean, hobbits feet are very hairy..so they probably don't need to wear socks at all unless its really, really cold...why no size 13 Martin???kiwigeo wrote:Lillian wrote:so theyre probably being run off their feet. The operation is being run by Country Women New Zealand and theyre all volunteers. I imagine they kept range of sizes to a bare minimum to keep the amount of processing to a manageable level.Kim wrote:Wonder if that explains the sock shortage....perhaps they wore them all out...Why no size 13??? Anyway who in the hell has size 13 feet?? Maybe you need to trim them down to a more sensible size 11 with your band saw.

Re: Support the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
Not quite sure how the sizing goes, but if there are comparable to US shoe sizes, um, well, the women's will be too small, even for Fran.kiwigeo wrote:Thats both bad news and good news. But thank you for the offer.
Well, my younger brothers. But they aren't tiny guys. 6'4" and 6'7". I'm the runt of the litter at 5'7", but all those years of wearing combat boots, my feet are more comfortable in a men's 9.5.kiwigeo wrote:

Kim, are you reliving your youth? Or just getting ready for winter? Going with minimalist attire?

Not sure what you mean Lil? I'm actually on the look out for a new marble bag tis all as I keep losing them...

Re: Support the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
Oh. Okay. My apologies.
But honestly Kim, I don't think you have lost your marbles.
But I have been known to be wrong.

Received this email from Rural Women NZ who are putting in the hard yards to get aftersocks out to the customers:
Hi aftersockers!
Firstly we would like to thank you for supporting Rural Women New Zealand's fundraising project aftersocks(tm). We have been overwhelmed with support for this project and to date we have sold over 6000 pairs throughout New Zealand and abroad. Our socks are being worn in Norway, Hong Kong, Canada and Australia to name a few!\
A key focus for this project was to support businesses from Canterbury, which is why we choose to get our aftersocks(tm) manufactured by the NZ Sock Company in Ashburton. By nature of this choice it does take a little longer for our aftersocks(tm) to be knitted, washed, ironed, trimmed, packaged and posted, and due to the huge demand for our product the team from the NZ Sock Company are working seven day a week to keep up with demand.
We would like to say a BIG thank you for your patience to date and we will endeavor to get your aftersocks(tm) out to you as soon as we possibly can. All orders placed before the 30 June will be dispatched by the 15 July.
Thank you again for patience!

Great to see that they're so busy. I rallied the troops at work and put in an order this evening. A great cause.

A great idea, and a great cause. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Martin. Wonderful to hear that they are overwhelmed making the socks in a local factory.
The banter between Kim and Martin literally had me laughing out loud. Kim, excellent idea! I understand your desire for just a single sock, and recommend sitting in an ice water bath for a few minutes so you'll be able to squeeze a size 12 on your size 13. For me, I'm waiting to see if they have any child's extra small.
There will be Aftersocks warming feet in Duluth, MN this winter!
