Lubricant for hand sawing plates

I don't have a big bandsaw, so I have to cut my plates like this

I find lubricant, such as that shown, and Steely Dan on the stereo helps move things along

(And , yes, I know a better saw might also help, but I dont do this very often)

Richard, this is how I do it if I have to.
(Sorry, the lubricant is out of frame in this pic, but I'm glad to see you using one my all time favourite brands )

Craig, are those two spreader bars either side of the blade set to ride the outside of the board so the cut can't wander in the board?

Yes and no Liam.
The Framesaw has a wide frame for balance, like a tightrope walker using a long pole.
The inner bars are not part of the original design, however the first time I used the saw the blade flexed inside the wood.
(I found this out when the teeth appeared out one side after cutting 2/3rds through the length )
I placed the 2 inner bars there to hold the blade straight. They are not fixed, just sitting there under compression.
The fact that you can set them to the width of the board so that they act as a 'fence' is just a bonus

Your framesaw is definitely cooler than my el cheapo panel saw - and probably a lot quicker. I cut as deep as I could with the table saw first then cut with the panel saw.

I think I will do multipiece backs in future - then I can use the bandsaw.
