Visitor to my garden
Visitor to my garden
Was sitting outside here knocking back a few Steinlagers when I noticed our resident magpies making a fuss in one of the trees. Had a look up the tree and this is what I found:

Gawd, better not show this pic to my partner, she'll be on the first flight over to proclaim it's "Cute" & make cooing noises at it
.
Speaking of Steinlager, I did a job for one of the academics at work before christmas, he said he'd get me 'A' beer as payment (was only a small job). I knew he was tight so wasn't too disappointed when he proudly produced a solitary stubby of Steinlager pure for my troubles the next day.
I've heard tell of this 'pure' label stuff, bit reluctant to open the bottle & empty the contents, I'll wait for a stinking hot day & there's nothing else cold, left to drink.

Steinlager Pure...it's crap mate. Tried it and found it about as exciting as a running shoe full of dog vomit. Steinlager traditional is the only brew for me....anything else is second best.

Thought it might have been even though I've never tasted dog vomit... or drank out of a running shoe for that matter

Dear o dear, gonna have to take you down to the Twisted Hop next time you're over, get some good english style cask conditioned brews into you! That'll put hairs on your chest. Bit expensive but you get a meal in every glasskiwigeo wrote: Steinlager traditional is the only brew for me....anything else is second best.

Sounds like a good plan. The beer's expensive? Not an issue...I'm buying.Nick O wrote: Dear o dear, gonna have to take you down to the Twisted Hop next time you're over, get some good english style cask conditioned brews into you! ). Speaking of which, I've just come back from a visit to Musicworks, Charlie said to say Hi to you.
I popped and saw Charlie last time I was over and he was good....I bought a pile of strings off him. Is that pile of AER amps still sitting on the floor in front of the counter?

No, he's got a display of Martin's there at present. I didn't have a good sniff around the shop so I don't know if the amps have gone out the door or toward the back of the shop with the other amps. If he had them priced right I imagine they didn't stick around too long, bloody good acoustic amps.kiwigeo wrote: Is that pile of AER amps still sitting on the floor in front of the counter?
We got talking about Ukes,he was telling me that before Christmas he had boxes & boxes of the cheapy chinese ukes then showed me the last remaining 6 he had! I might have to think about making them!

Yeah the ukes are selling like hot cakes. My sister was in there buying one recently...she plays in a pirate uke band. I reckon if you knocked some decent quality basic ukes and priced them right you could do all right.Nick O wrote:No, he's got a display of Martin's there at present. I was looking at a ghastly Ibanez steel string last time I was in there. Where the strings run over the saddle theyve chopped out the front of the saddle slot. Charlie reckoned it was to allow the saddle to be lowered further than on a normal guitar. I pointed out that removing support for the front of the saddle wasnt a good idea. Id say they did it to allow for sloppy construction in the factory without even considering the negative aspects of the modification
