What came in the mail today

Finally the postman has brought some of the goodies that I've been waiting for. 3 parcels showed up today that were ordered 3 weeks apart. Stew Macs order I thought had gone missing in action. MEI's and Tools for Working Wood arrived in the expected 10 days +.



From the top clockwise is 5 pounds of 192 gram strength high clarity hide glue.

MEI's silicon heat blanket with a thermocouple just in case I decide to go down that path.

Stew Mac 16" fret press caul (I bought a arbour press from a local tool supply company for $90, no freight that way.

Stew Mac string spacing rule.

And finally, Stew Mac 18" long 16" radius fret board/fret leveling sanding form. It's very nice and solid. Should work a treat.

Now just try and get me to leave the workshop this weekend.

You won't regret buying the fingerboard radius form or the fret press caul.

Both excellent tools. (after you've used them you'll think of them as indispensible)

I get my hide glue from Tools for Working with Wood as well. I have heard that there is only one hide glue manufacturer in the States who distributes to everyone else but the TWW people are good to work with.

I try very hard since I have limited space and I am still remembering my little bathroom shop to not keep any tools that I don't use.

I have everything in your picture and use it all often!!! It's all great stuff and essential to at least my own style of building.

And Bob is right - even though the radius sanding beam is pricey it does a fantastic job and will help to make your guitars much more playable.

Great stuff Allen! That spacing rule is such a great tool . And the 16"radius
caul is also one of the most useful tools from Stew-mac. Have fun this weekend in your shop!!

After all the talk previously about pressing frets I just had to try going down that path. And I was going to give building a sanding block a go, but after researching how to go about it, it seemed that there were too many things that could go wrong and the accuracy was something I was really looking for.
