Monster In The US

Post by Hesh1956 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 7:03 am

I know that Martin and others have posted interesting info about current events in their part of the world.

I am wondering if you folks have heard about this whack-job in the states who abducted a little girl 18 years ago and then held her in his back yard for 18 years all the while molesting her and even impregnating her at least twice from which two little girls were born? He is married too and the wife is under arrest as well....

This is a big story here and as the investigation goes on it comes to light that he did this at least once before and was imprisoned for it... So he gets out and does it again, and again, and again.

There are even reports that neighbors have heard the voices of several grown men laughing and partying in this creep's back yard... Perhaps they used the local sex offender lists on the Internet to find like minded monsters....

Anyway since I am always interested in how folks elsewhere feel about issues I wanted to ask my friends here how this would have been handled in your neck of the woods and how this would have been handled the first time he offended as well?

As for me I have never been a fan of the death penalty but in this case I am willing to make an exception... My God what a monster.

If you read the details on various news sites you will also learn that he openly told the authorities for many years that he had these urges and could not control himself. What does a society do with folks like this when we have knowledge that they want to do these horrific things but perhaps they have not yet gone far enough to warrant locking them away and throwing away the key? Chemical castration?

Thanks.

Yeah, it's been all over the news here too. If it happened in this state they'd probably get 20 years - and be out in less than five.

I'm only against the death penalty because innocent people might get sentenced to death (and you never know, you or I might be one of them). But in cases like this where there is absolutely no doubt, then I'm all for a more permanent solution.

But then again; putting this kind of power in the hands of the government (ok, so the courts are supposed to be independent) worries me too. Especially with our current state government. Why just the other day some shady character who supposedly had a tape that could bring down the government was shot in the head in front of his 9 year old son. The big question we face right now is did the state government (or certain elements there of) whack some guy who threatened to end their ride on the gravy train?

So yeah, death penalty in extreme cases sounds like the right thing, but that power in the wrong hands can only lead to trouble. In my not so humble opinion.

We too have been infiltrated by the bleeding heart liberal brigade which permeates our legal system. I agree with Paul in that we always run the risk of knocking an innocent person off if a death penalty was in effect. Infact we've had two such high profile cases where the police just wanted to lock somebody up and fitted their case around their most likely suspect, only to have them released from prison (20 yrs & 10yrs respectively) after evidence and or DNA proof that they couldn't possibly have done the crime. But in this instance you guys have I'm all for charging the taxpayer 20cents for a bit of lead.
As with Aussie (by the sounds of it), somebody here gets sentenced to 'life' in prison after commiting murder and in 5 yrs they are back on the streets. In one recent case a proven child molester was released after serving only a third of his sentence & was rehoused in the community by the so called "Experts" in a government agency in a house only 200meters down the road from a primary school!(what brain scientist worked that one out?) & the local community were not informed incase it "harmed" the offender's chances of rehabilitation.
Our system is definetly getting soft and everything is focussed on the criminal's rehabilitation rather than the victims rights!

Sorry my little rant....but it's abit of an achilles heel with me after going through our legal system as a 'victim'.
"Jesus Loves You."
Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

A horrible, horrible crime. Like that German bloke they got a while ago. Lock him up, throw away the key and make him earn his keep, minimum wage style.

As to whether you do it on a first offence I dont know. You would need to be dead sure but sexual orientation isnt readily amenable to therapy from what I know. That said, such people would make great soldiers or tax officials....

Death is the easy way out sometimes. As stated the problem with the death penalty is that it is a bit embarassing when you get it wrong as it usually says more about societies biases then justice. I think its Texas where the ratio of black to white executions is the most obvious although Iran and its complete lack of homosexuals is also a good one.

I also know that in several US states people appear on the sexual offenders register if they play with underage people, fair enuff. What is not so commonly known is that they go on it even if they are underage themselves. So if you get caught with Sally in the back shed when you are both 14 you are marked for life. From what I have heard the ratio of men to women on the register is 50:1. I am so glad Im not in the US....
make mine fifths........

Thanks Martin, but as you can see, we have enough monsters already. We don't need any extras.
