Got my mitts on a brand new Lie Nielson No 4 smoothing plane for $400 (postage included) yesterday. These babies are a beautiful hand tool and theres a toothed blade option available...will make working down my tops a bit easier.

Hey Martin, just think how many back and side sets that $400 could have got you.

$400 would buy a bit of wood but the plane takes up less space than a stack of wood. The plane was a buy I couldnt resist....its second hand so doesnt have to be declared to the boss when she gets home.

Martin,
Don't you know that new planes are no good, you need something old with patina and mojo and classic status and good old USA steel.
I'll help you out though, I have a well seasoned made in USA no 4 that I'll do a straight swap with you (as long as you cover Postage)

Nah, I'm just plane envious, looks great and I'm sure it works even better.
