G'day Dave,

Beautful wood and oppointments mate! The Brazilian Rosewood is a very classy look. The Blackwood always looks great.

(double mortise and tenon bolt - on neck)

I'm a beginner builder Dave and have not seen the above neck join anywhere in my research. What are the advantages for your guitar project using this style of neck? If you have a link to this design or a close up pic I would like to read up about it!

Great looking guitar and thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Alan

Another great looking project you have going there Dave. I'm suprised that they let Blackwood that nice out of the country. Great score.

Is that a bone nut that you have installed, or a temp. piece of wood? If bone, how did you get it that color?

Dave, that is soooo tasty.
I love the shape, the woods, and I notice how you matched the
truss rod cover to the lines of the headstock overlay.
Everything looks great, mate.

Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate all the nice comments.

Alan, The dbl. M & T is not that complicated but it took me a while to get it right since this is the first time
I have bolted down the fb. I'll find some pics of it for you. Thanks

Allen, Thanks that nut is bone from stew Mac . they call it vintage bone .
It's nice and dark, how I like it.I did try tinting some bone but it didn't work.

Thanks Steve, You know I got the idea for that truss cover from your last guitar posted at the OLF.
I liked how yours matched so well so I have to thank you for that. By the way, I like the look of your
countersunk screw so I did the same. It looks much better than the little gold screw I had in. You're always influencing my work.Thank You!

OK, Alan here's some shots of the double mortise and tenon .

This is the "paddle"that the fb. sets on.It buts up to the upper transverse brace.

Awww shucks, Dave... thanks! My approach was basically to make the truss rod cover disappear. I've always liked the clean lines of a Martin headstock, where the truss rod adjusts from the sound hole. But having worked at a repair bench for 10 + years, I prefer the convenience of a head-adjustable truss rod. So my idea was to make the rod accessible from the head, and make the little cover as invisible as possible. I've even gone to using black screws to further make that bit of hardware more inconspicuous. But as you are proving, it opens up new design possibilities, doesn't it?

Again, great looking work all around!

That's a mighty fine looking laminate trimmer you have there. Is that one of the Cochran bases?

Beautiful Blackwood Dave.

That Carpathian has a nice look to it as well. Nice prominent grain lines. I bet it's stiff.

Looks like it'll be a little stunner when complete.

Thanks again,

Steve, I changed my truss rod access up to the headstock too, because
I thought with the fb. ext. tenon in the way it would be easier.I could use two bolts in the center this way.
And it worked out well.
It's easier to adjust without the strings in the way also.
thanks.

Allen, Yeah that is the Bishop Cochran base. It's pricey but I really like it!!
It's Very precise and Very well made. They make them for Porter Cable, Dremel,
Foredom, and a couple more I think.I really like the plunge feature too.
